ActionSA is proud to announce that two of our members have recorded historic wins in the University of Pretoria SRC elections.
Nothando Ngubane won a seat on the SRC, while Nokuthula Mahlalela was elected as the Chairperson of the Faculty House of Education.
Despite ActionSA’s registration still pending with the IEC, both students contested the SRC elections as independent candidates but draped in ActionSA identity. Nothando’s campaign amassed more votes than the ANC, EFF or DA student candidates.
This is a historic achievement for ActionSA, only launched as a political party on 29 August 2020, but is already registering victories in one of South Africa’s leading universities.
ActionSA is committed to becoming the political home of preference for young people in South Africa, who are often left behind by our political system. These young students’ victories are a step towards this objective.
We thank the campaign team led by Nhlayiso Malubana and Thapelo Maisha Magomarela for their hard work and resilience.
Both Nothando and Nokuthula will work with, and for the students at TUKS, and ActionSA will work with both members to ensure they perform their duties in a manner consistent with our party’s seven core values.
On behalf of the Leadership of ActionSA, we wish to convey our hearty congratulations to Nothando and Nokuthula, and we are confident that they will represent us with dignity, respect and commitment to building a non-racial and prosperous South Africa.
