ActionSA is encouraged by indications from the SAPS and the Hawks that thorough investigations are underway regarding serious allegations of corruption, money laundering, and abuse of public funds involving Free State Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae.
ActionSA welcomes the South African government’s decision to temporarily close the Lebombo border in response to the escalating violence and political instability in Mozambique.
It is safe to argue that most of the world has been watching this US election with great interest because of the historic role and impact of the US on global affairs. US Presidents still get referred to as the “most powerful president in the world.” It makes sense for us, in South Africa, to be interested in the outcome of any American election. This is primarily because of the important economic relations we have with the US.
ActionSA has made an official submission to the Electoral Review Consultation Panel (ERCP) to propose an alternative electoral model for South Africa that will increase voter turnout, enhance the quality of public representatives, and introduce lasting accountability.
ActionSA joins calls for President Ramaphosa to declare a State of Emergency following the tragic death of a 10-year-old girl in Alexandra, the latest victim of an alarming escalation in deadly cases involving the consumption of contaminated or expired goods bought from spaza shops.
ActionSA has written to President Ramaphosa, requesting that he furnish us with the reasons for the lack of action on NPA Director Advocate Shamila Batohi’s request, made in August last year, to suspend Johannesburg Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Andrew Chauke, who is at the centre of several botched prosecutions.
ActionSA Gauteng Youth Forum is deeply concerned about the persistent failures of the Gauteng Department of Education’s online application system for Grade 1 and Grade 8 learners.
ActionSA is dismayed at the continued deaths of children in Gauteng despite the promise made by Premier Panyaza Lesufi to deploy food inspectors to monitor townships’ spaza shops.
Hammanskraal residents should not fall victim to the lies and misinformation of peddled by the DA which has failed for 8 years to provide the community with clean water and is now scrambling to cover up nearly a decade of incompetence with falsehoods about the Magalies Water Treatment Plant expansion.
ActionSA in Gauteng is deeply disappointed by the gross mismanagement and lack of accountability surrounding the so-called “Montrose Mega Project” in Randfontein. Despite R11 billion of public funds being spent, this project now stands as a symbol of government failure, with incomplete houses, poor project management, decaying infrastructure, and escalating criminal activity.
Since February this year, Gauteng has had over 210 cases of suspected food poisoning with 16 resulting in fatalities of children, the vast majority of which were under 10 years of age. ActionSA, therefore, welcomes the promise made by Premier Panyaza Lesufi to deploy food inspectors to monitor townships’ spaza shops which have been the alleged contributor to this scourge. And we do so with extreme caution.
ActionSA Rand West Youth Forum Regional Executive Committee conducted an oversight visit to assess the overall conditions of various parks in Mohlakeng, Randfontein. Disappointingly, but unsurprisingly, the state of the local parks throughout Mohlakeng is appalling with no visible plans to restore them. Parks that were intended to serve as recreational spaces for outdoor entertainment, community health and wellness, as well as provide an environment for social cohesion amongst young people and fellow community members have now been turned into dumping sites and crime zones.
ActionSA is deeply concerned about the escalating misuse of Gauteng’s public healthcare system by foreign nationals who receive Oncology treatment without paying their medical costs. This practice not only places additional strain on already overburdened healthcare facilities, but it also diverts resources away from South Africans who require urgent care.
ActionSA Gauteng Youth Forum condemns the action of the Department of Social Development of not paying the Youth Brigades’ October salaries. We view this as an unacceptable exploitation of the desperate youth who have put their trust in this program, that has caused severe inconvenience to many young people employed under it.
