ActionSA celebrates the ruling of the Constitutional Court handed down today as a victory for the South African people.

This ruling has determined that the rule used by the National Assembly to deny the investigation report into Phala Phala being referred to the Impeachment Committee was invalid and thus the vote must be deemed invalid.

ActionSA welcomes today’s High Court judgment against the DA-led City of Cape Town, which confirms that the City’s charges for the city-wide cleaning levy, as well as water and sewage fixed tariffs in the 2025/2026 budget, are unlawful and invalid.

ActionSA condemns the brazen contempt for Council on full display at the Ordinary Council Meeting of 30 April 2026. Council was told the Executive Mayor Ald. Nkosindiphile Xhakaza would not attend and an Acting Mayor appointed in his place.
