Tshwane Social Development & Community Services MMC Hands over Brand-New House to Family of 22
Alderman Anniruth Kissonduth
ActionSA Tshwane Caucus Leader
On 18 March this year, Tshwane MMC of Social Development and Community Services, Cllr Peggy de Bruin, joined the Collen Mashawana Foundation team, led by Mr Austin Mashawana on a visit to the Ngomeni family consisting of 22 members in Winterveld.
MMC de Bruin reached out to them and invited them to accompany her to meet the family, after she saw their hopeless situation. On their arrival they discovered that the family has been living in a dilapidated shack for many years. The single mother occupying the property is in dire need for a safe home for her and her children. Mama Ngomeni is a single mother taking care of her 12 grandchildren, 8 children as well as her brother. She does not work and relies on a government grant.
The state of the house became worse after the recent heavy rains and has now become a hazardous environment. MMC Peggy de Bruin is so touched by The Collen Mashawana Foundation, they have committed to build them a new house and MMC de Bruin will give them all the support needed to give Mama Ngomeni a dream home.
On 21 July MMC de Bruin, Collen Mashawana Foundation and Afribiz returned to the Ngomeni family. The project is well underway and at an advanced stage, the building stands firm on its foundations and this is a beacon of hope for the Ngomeni family. Furthermore, The Collen Mashawana Foundation, Mampeula Foundation and MMC de Bruin will be assisting the children with school uniforms, clothes, and toys.
Words cannot express the gratitude towards the Collen Mashawana Foundation and the Mampeula foundation, you are changing lives. MMC de Bruin is set to do the handover to the Family on the 5th of August.
Brick by brick we will rebuild our country, one project at a time.
