ActionSA Makes Strategic Announcements to Set the Stage for the 2026 Local Elections

ActionSA has concluded its critical three-day Senate Strategic Planning meeting, bringing together leaders from across South Africa to map out how we will deliver a focused and assertive election campaign that confronts the collapse of local government and failing service delivery.

At the centre of these discussions was a simple but urgent question: how do we take a campaign directly to South Africans who are tired of failing municipalities, deteriorating infrastructure, corruption, the rising cost of living and lawlessness?

The Senate reaffirmed that our campaign will continue to represent a clean break from the politics of self-interest and will instead reinforce our commitment to putting the people of South Africa first, with ActionSA and its leaders, who have a proven track record, ready to fix what other parties have broken.

ActionSA was founded to break from the failed politics of established political parties, and we remain guided by a simple principle that South Africans must come first in every decision we take. It is this principle that defines our strategy to campaign on clear solutions.

Furthermore, ActionSA intends to run a campaign built from the ground up that places the issues of communities at the centre of our work, while recognising that fundamental to this approach is a bold and assertive campaign that aggressively advances our fight against the collapse of basic services, crime and drugs, unemployment and the many challenges destroying our communities.

In line with this approach, ActionSA is proud to announce that Mary Phadi has joined the party and will play a key role in leading and managing our campaign in Mpumalanga. As a grounded organiser with deep community roots, she brings a clear understanding of the challenges faced across the province and a proven record of standing at the forefront of community struggles.

ActionSA is further proud to announce the appointment of Dereleen James MP as our Provincial Chairperson in the Western Cape. A respected and no-nonsense community activist, she has consistently led efforts to confront crime, drug cartels and corruption, particularly on the Cape Flats, and will now spearhead the party’s growth and campaign in the province.

This is just the beginning. ActionSA’s contestation of the upcoming municipal elections will be accompanied by further announcements in the coming weeks on the shift we are undertaking to mount an aggressive campaign in a targeted number of municipalities across all 9 provinces.
