ActionSA Demands Accountability in Tswaing R60 Million Corruption Scandal
Masego Kodisang MPL
ActionSA Member of the North West Provincial Legislature
ActionSA in the North West Province is shocked and deeply concerned by recent media reports alleging widespread corruption at the Tswaing Local Municipality.
The allegations point to unlawful appointments of senior officials, reportedly costing taxpayers approximately R60 million. If true, this represents a gross abuse of public office and a betrayal of residents who continue to endure poor service delivery.
ActionSA calls for:
• The immediate suspension of all implicated officials pending investigation;
• A full, independent forensic and qualification investigation into all appointments and related expenditure;
• Swift criminal action against anyone found guilty.
We further urge law enforcement agencies to act without fear or favour. The people of Tswaing deserve accountability.
This matter highlights a deeper governance crisis in municipalities across the North West, where political interference and weak oversight continue to undermine proper administration. ActionSA reiterates its call for merit-based appointments and strict adherence to the law in all municipal processes.
As part of our legislative oversight role, ActionSA will formally engage the relevant provincial authorities to account for these allegations and the apparent failure of oversight mechanisms. We will not allow this matter to be swept under the carpet while communities suffer.
ActionSA stands firm on clean governance, merit-based appointments, and zero tolerance for corruption.
