ActionSA welcomes the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa that the Local Government Elections will be held on the 4th of November 2026.
South Africans agree – our municipalities cities, towns, and villages are in a state of crisis. Basic services are in perpetual collapse, criminals run rampant, finances are in disarray, and accountability is amiss as politicians sit in air-conditioned offices, insulated from the problems they’ve created.
The parties who have promised to fix the mess have broken municipalities, bankrupted finances and destroyed service delivery capacity. South Africans are rightfully angry have been left looking for an alternative as they increasingly come to realise that voting the same way they have always voted will result in the continuation of broken municipalities.
With this announcement today ActionSA can confirm that it is ready to fix what others have broken. We’ve proven that where we govern, the basics are done right and services are delivered. In the City of Tshwane ActionSA Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya has proven her credentials in fixing what her predecessors have broken. Candidates like Herman Mashaba and Athol Trollip have proven credentials of leading metros in the only times in which those cities prospered, and emerging candidates like Xolani Khumalo and Mary Phadi, and many others to join them, will follow in these steps in their municipalities.
While Mayoral Candidates will provide our vision for fixing broken municipalities, ActionSA will equally focus on putting forward ward candidates who are leaders in their communities. South Africans are failed by ward candidates who emerge only for elections before they disappear. Working with communities, ActionSA will put forward ward candidates that give South Africans hope of better services and dedication to their communities.
Come 4 November, South Africans have a golden opportunity to sweep the unethical, inefficient, and unqualified out of office and vote in leaders who have gotten the job done before and are ready to do it again. They will have the chance to reject political parties that deliver for nobody, or other parties that deliver only for some, and vote for ActionSA as a party that has proven it can lead stable coalitions and deliver for all.
We call on all South Africans to register and to vote to ensure that they take control of their municipalities from the parties that have failed them and support ActionSA as the credible alternative to fix what others have broken.
