ActionSA Calls for Urgent Investigation into the Death of Evimbilanga Primary School Learner
Press Statement by Thapelo Ngele
ActionSA Ehlanzeni District Regional Chairperson
ActionSA extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, classmates and the entire Evimbilanga Primary School community following the tragic death of Sizolwethu Prince Shezi (10), a Grade 4 learner.
According to information shared by the family, Sizolwethu became seriously ill on Wednesday and was taken to Naas Clinic on multiple occasions before sadly passing away on Thursday. The family has raised serious concerns regarding the medical care he received, including allegations of delays in treatment and emergency response. These allegations have not yet been independently verified and must be urgently investigated.
ActionSA is deeply concerned by these claims and calls on the Mpumalanga MEC for Health and the Department of Health to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and make the findings public. We also support the family’s request for a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death and ensure that all the facts are brought to light.
Every patient deserves timely, professional and compassionate healthcare. If these allegations are confirmed, those responsible must be held accountable. ActionSA will continue to monitor this matter closely and stands with the Shezi family in their pursuit of transparency, accountability and justice.
