ActionSA has today unveiled Mary Phadi’s official poster as our candidate for Executive Mayor of the Nkangala District Municipality ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.
This is more than the unveiling of a poster. It is the beginning of a new chapter for Nkangala and a clear statement of ActionSA’s intention to build a government that works for its residents.
For too long, the people of Nkangala have been subjected to a local government system that has failed to translate the enormous potential of this district into a better quality of life for its residents. Communities continue to experience challenges with water, roads, electricity, service delivery, unemployment and the failure of municipalities to spend public resources responsibly.
Nkangala is a district with enormous economic potential, yet too many of its residents remain trapped in poverty and without meaningful opportunities. We cannot accept a situation where communities are expected to settle for poor services while municipalities continue to struggle with accountability and effective governance.
Mary Phadi brings the leadership, determination and commitment required to confront these challenges head-on. Her candidacy represents ActionSA’s commitment to putting competent and accountable leadership at the centre of local government.
As ActionSA Mpumalanga, we are not contesting these elections simply to participate. We are contesting to govern.
