The perpetrators of these heinous crimes must not find refuge in Ekurhuleni. Residents must be assured that my presence in this city is not for theatrics. It is for real, decisive action at every level of our city to ensure justice is served and our communities are protected.
The last few days have been devastating for the residents of Ekurhuleni. The safety of our residents has come sharply into focus, a testament to what I have highlighted throughout my years of fighting crime.
These media reports are not new to the lived reality of many South African women. Countless cases of this nature have gone cold, and only a fraction is ever reported or made public.
I have taken a clear stance; I will not be a keyboard warrior fighting this battle through tweets and Facebook posts. These criminals must be confronted head-on and dealt with decisively. The time for dialogue is over.
In the coming days, the residents of Ekurhuleni will see what I have been working on behind the scenes since these matters came to light. I chose to act and do what I am best known for.
Kempton Park will not be handed over to criminals. It will not be a playground for murderers, certainly not under my watch.
