ActionSA Will Not Be Intimidated by Thugs in eThekwini

Today, Dr Makhosi Khoza, ActionSA’s Mayoral Candidate for the City of the eThekwini, laid criminal charges for acts of intimidation and alleged assault at uMlazi V section police station. KwaZulu Natal, and eThekwini, have become notorious hubs for political intolerance and sites for political killings. An ActionSA volunteer was recently assaulted and forced to remove his green ActionSA party T-shirt. This was later burnt by alleged ANC members who threatened our volunteer and calling the area “a no-go zone” for ActionSA

This was all in a desperate bid to frustrate the community’s wish to vote for ActionSA.

We will not tolerate any acts of political intimidation against any of our communities or members. We are a country with laws, and we will not stand by while our people are intimidated, threatened, and physically harmed while exercising their democratic right to represent and vote for any political party of their choice.

The IEC and the South African Police Service (SAPS) must urgently investigate the matter and must protect residents’ right to free and fair elections from the power-hungry vultures within the ANC.

The ANC must be forced to realise that it does not have a monopoly over the people of South Africa. The Constitution of this country guarantees freedom of association. This enables every citizen to part ways with an abusive and unethical political party, without fearing for the safety of their lives. Residents of eThekwini are free to affiliate and vote for ActionSA, the only political party to declare its mayoral candidate for the City, Dr Makhosi Khoza. Indeed, in eThekwini, the ANC, the DA and the EFF have not bothered to put forward a Mayoral Candidate. They simply expect residents to roll over and just hand over their votes. This is the highest form of disrespect to voters who deserve to know the poor calibre of leaders put forward by these political parties.

Let us be clear, no amount of intimidation, threats or bullying are going to deter ActionSA from fighting for the rights and needs of the residents of eThekwini. We are determined to ensure that we fix the rot that has been allowed to creep into every corner of eThekwini by the ANC.

Khoza said, “The time has come to lead from the front, and we will not be forced into silence by the ruling party’s cronies and thugs. The ANC is running scared; they see ActionSA’s progress, the residents are gatvol of their corruption and non-delivery of services and know they have run out of time.”

ActionSA, through Mayoral Candidate, Dr Makhosi Khoza, is committed to placing the people of eThekwini first. We are adamant that this city can be fixed but the first step in fixing eThekwini requires residents to vote ActionSA on 1 November 2021.
