ActionSA Announces 3 New Councillors in City of Tshwane Caucus

ActionSA is pleased to announce that it has concluded its candidate selection processes following a full review of its PR list in the City of Tshwane. This follows the termination of membership of councillors believed to have been working with the ANC and EFF.

This review has seen Mark Boikanyo, Hluphi Gafane and Derick Mahlangu being confirmed by the IEC as Councillors in the City of Tshwane. All three members have been long-standing members of ActionSA with a track record of leadership and service to communities in Tshwane.

Importantly, in terms of value alignment, these Councillors understand ActionSA’s commitment to provide an alternative to failed ANC governance.

As a consequence of the filling of these council seats, ActionSA will return to its full complement of councillors ahead of Wednesday’s council meeting to elect the Mayor for the City of Tshwane. It is critical for the City of Tshwane to be stabilised under the leadership of a coalition that has a majority awarded to it by the residents of Tshwane and not the buying and selling of votes.

We place on record the need for our coalition partners to ensure they undertake similar actions to those undertaken by ActionSA as it pertains to their councillors who have been found to have voted for the ANC/EFF sponsored candidates.

We also thank all those people who have shown their willingness to become councillors and thank them for the time and effort they took to prepare and attend the interviews.

These people are key partners as we build a movement to replace the ANC in the 2024 elections, and form a government that will change the trajectory of this country.
