ActionSA Announces Two Critical Provincial Chairperson Appointments

ActionSA is pleased to announce the appointment of Nongoma Mtitshana as Acting Eastern Cape Provincial Chairperson and Thabo Nkashe as Provincial Chairperson for the North West. Both have been entrusted with the important task of building branches, strengthening our capacity, and ensuring readiness ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

Nongoma Mtitshana – Acting Eastern Cape Provincial Chairperson

Mtitshana’s appointment follows a request by Athol Trollip MP, who has served in the role since joining ActionSA, to step down and focus on his growing responsibilities as ActionSA’s Parliamentary Leader in the National Assembly.

When Athol Trollip MP joined ActionSA, he committed to President Herman Mashaba that he would lead the province until the 2024 elections—not due to a lack of passion, but because he had already served as Provincial Chairperson in the Eastern Cape for 16 years. In his own words, he believed that “the mantle should be passed on to other competent and capable individuals.”

Trollip’s work in Parliament has required him to be away from the province for extended periods. As he rightly stated, “the troops in the trenches need to see their generals in the trenches and not on TV.” His request to step aside was therefore both principled and rooted in a deep understanding of the demands of political leadership in our communities.

Nongoma Mtitshana brings to the role a wealth of knowledge, grassroots experience, and a demonstrated passion for the people of the Eastern Cape. With qualifications and professional experience that align perfectly with the most pressing challenges of our province, she has a particular passion for rural development and agricultural entrepreneurship, which are areas of acute importance for the future of the Eastern Cape.

Over the past two years, she has done well in her role as ActionSA’s Provincial Operations and Campaigns Manager, earning widespread admiration for her dedication, strategic insight, and commitment to service. In the months following our national electoral breakthrough, she has, for all practical purposes, been doing the job of Provincial Chairperson, especially since Trollip was elected to the National Assembly in June last year.

Her appointment as Acting Provincial Chairperson until ActionSA’s Eastern Cape Elective Conference was met with unanimous support, a testament to the respect and confidence she commands across the province.

We wish to commend Mtitshana for the incredible leadership and support she has demonstrated. She embodies the spirit of servant leadership that ActionSA champions and will no doubt continue to lead with excellence and determination.

Trollip remains fully committed to the Eastern Cape and will continue to support Mtitshana in her new role. In many ways, this transition represents nothing more than a reversal of roles, as both leaders continue their dedicated service to the people of the Eastern Cape under the ActionSA banner.

Thabo Nkashe – North West Provincial Chairperson

Thabo Nkashe is a dedicated public servant and activist who has made significant contributions to the development of the Ditsobotla Community in the North West Province. As the former Mayor of Ditsobotla Local Municipality in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District, he demonstrated his commitment to serving the community.

Nkashe’s appointment follows the tenure of Kgosi Kwena Mangope MPL, who served as Provincial Chairperson. ActionSA expresses its deepest gratitude for Mangope’s successful leadership in this role. As a member of the Provincial Legislature, Mangope’s efforts will be dedicated to representing and fighting for the interests of North West residents.

Importantly, as ActionSA’s integration with Forum4Service Delivery takes shape, particularly in the North West where it is most prominently featured, Nkashe’s appointment will play a crucial role in the party’s growth in the province. His leadership will be instrumental as we consolidate our efforts and strengthen ActionSA’s presence in the North West.

As a staunch believer in the concept of ‘Service Deliverism’, Nkashe is driven to make a positive impact in North West. His tireless efforts to promote effective governance and deliver essential services to the community of Ditsobotla have earned him recognition as a notable activist. ActionSA looks forward to witnessing Mr. Nkashe expand on these efforts on behalf of the party in his new role.
