ActionSA Calls for Premier Mandla Ndlovu’s Cabinet to Prioritise the People of Mpumalanga

ActionSA is concerned about the persistent challenges in the Department of Health and the situation facing patients in Mpumalanga, the latest shocking development of which involves hospital patients being targeted by criminals in various hospitals.

ActionSA is particularly alarmed by reports revealing that over 23 vehicles and 2 mobile clinics have been stolen from hospitals in just the past six months.

This crisis demands that the incoming MEC of Health, Sasekani Manzini, take immediate action to address the dire state of health facilities and the urgent need for the government to provide adequate security to healthcare facilities.

Furthermore, considering the crippling poverty and unemployment in Mpumalanga, ActionSA calls on MEC for Economic Development, Makhosazane Masilela, to pour every effort into fulfilling her elected duty to create an enabling environment for the private sector to create jobs and to fix the ailing Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA).

ActionSA has previously raised concerns about the fact that the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency’s industrial area in Bronkhorstspruit has factories lying empty while 49% of the province’s population is unemployed.

We further call on the Premier to cancel the corrupt beauty contest tender that has cost taxpayers millions of rands by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (MER). Instead, the Premier should ensure that every critical resource is poured into essential areas like road maintenance, where we hope MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Thulasizwe

Thomo, will pay special attention, as the roads are in a total state of disrepair in the province.

ActionSA will ensure that the provincial legislature performs its function to meter out decisive action to improve the quality of life for all residents in Mpumalanga, and we will provide effective oversight to hold the Executive accountable.
