ActionSA Concerned by Raw Sewage at Tsakane Primary in Kagiso
Press Statement by Nicholas Mokwena
ActionSA Mogale City Regional Chairperson
ActionSA is deeply concerned about the shocking conditions at Tsakane Primary School in Kagiso, where raw sewage is openly seen flowing from inside the school premises to the outside area.
During an oversight visit conducted in October 2025, our leaders and activists documented raw sewage flowing openly from the school premises onto surrounding areas, with an additional overflowing manhole identified near the main entrance of Kagiso Mall, just a few blocks away from the school.
This sewage traverses pathways frequently used by learners and the public, presenting a severe health hazard to both the children of Tsakane Primary School and the broader Kagiso community. Furthermore, the absence of several gates on the school premises raises significant concerns about the safety and security of learners and staff, including the school’s assets
ActionSA calls on the EFF/ANC Coalition in the municipality and the Gauteng Department of Education to urgently intervene and address these issues. The health, safety, and dignity of the learners, as well as the environmental well-being of Ward 7, must not be further compromised
We urge the relevant authorities to act swiftly and address these hazardous conditions and restore the safe and dignified learning environment for the children of Tsakane Primary School.
