ActionSA Condemns Continued Water Crisis in Naas, Kamachekeza and Enkanini

ActionSA Mpumalanga Women’s Forum Chairperson
ActionSA is deeply concerned and outraged by the continued failure of the Nkomazi Local Municipality to provide reliable access to clean water to the communities of Naas, Kamachekeza, and Enkanini.
For more than 20 years, residents in these communities have lived without proper access to basic water services, despite repeated promises and commitments from government officials. Communities are still forced to rely on unsafe wells and water sources shared with animals simply to survive. This is a serious violation of human dignity, public health, and the constitutional right to access clean water.
These ongoing challenges raise serious concerns regarding the municipality’s handling of water infrastructure development, project implementation, and accountability.
ActionSA calls for the immediate provision of water tankers, the urgent drilling and installation of boreholes, and full transparency regarding water infrastructure projects and budgets linked to these communities.
We will continue to pursue accountability and urgent intervention to ensure the people of Naas, Kamachekeza, and Enkanini receive the dignity, respect, and basic services they deserve. Clean water is a human right, not a privilege.
