ActionSA in the North West Province is appalled by the brazen and violent removal of the Speaker of the Moses Kotane Local Municipality by bouncers hired by a rival ANC faction.
This shocking display of brute force is yet another symptom of the ANC’s rampant corruption, intractable factionalism, and utter disregard for the rule of law. The incident, which unfolded during an illegal council sitting, is a blatant abuse of power and a profound insult to the residents of Moses Kotane who deserve far better than this chaotic spectacle.
This incident is not an isolated event. It is the culmination of three decades of corruption and more than a decade of debilitating factional battles that have systematically eroded the ANC’s credibility and left the municipality in a state of complete disarray.
”Despite repeated warnings from the Auditor-General and numerous promises of reform from the provincial government, the situation continues to deteriorate. Not a single municipality in the North West boasts a clean audit, a testament to the ANC’s utter Failure to govern effectively,” Says ActionSA MPL Kgosi Kwena Mangope
The Premier’s claims, during his first State of the Province address, of deploying senior managers and establishing a municipal turnaround strategy ring hollow in the face of this blatant disregard for democratic processes.
”Where were these seconded managers when bouncers were forcibly removing the duly elected Speaker? The promised skills audit, with a deadline of September 2024, remains undelivered. These pronouncements appear to be nothing more than empty platitudes designed to appease the public while the ANC continues its self-serving agenda”, added MPL Mangope
The people of the Northwest are weary of the ANC’s empty promises and its blatant disregard for their well-being. The high unemployment rate, far exceeding the national average, is a direct consequence of this catastrophic mismanagement. The ANC’s continued reliance on factional infighting to maintain power is a betrayal of the public trust.
ActionSA demands immediate answers to the following:
– Where is the promised skills audit?
– Where were the seconded managers during the violent removal of the Speaker?
– How was the money to hire bouncers secured? Was it from municipal funds?
– What concrete steps will the provincial government take to address the systemic corruption and factionalism plaguing Moses Kotane Municipality?
ActionSA will not stand idly by while the ANC continues to destroy the NorthWest Province. We will utilize every legal avenue available to expose the rot within the ANC and hold those responsible accountable.
“We urge the people of the NorthWest to reject the ANC in the upcoming local government elections and choose a party committed to good governance and the betterment of their lives.” – MPL Mangope
