ActionSA congratulates our Head of Strategic Litigation, Advocate Gillian Benson, on the Gender Mainstreaming Award she received this week for breaking gender boundaries in the legal services sector.
The Gender Mainstreaming Awards was developed by Business Engage – a group of mostly listed companies – to encourage the representation of women in South African business.
And out of hundreds of nominations received, Advocate Benson placed second in the legal services sector category for her pioneering work to improve gender representation.
As a party which values diversity, ActionSA is pleased with Advocate Benson’s award as we work to ensure that we build an equal and representative political party and country.
Since the launch of ActionSA roughly three years ago, Advocate Benson has played a key role in helping us launch structures and ensuring that we make the voices of ordinary South Africans heard through legal action.
She has been instrumental in our ongoing litigation against the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality for allowing raw sewage to run into the ocean, and in our litigation against the South African government to have load shedding declared unconstitutional.
ActionSA thanks Advocate Benson for her hard work and commitment to the party and look forward to working with her on the important project to remove the ANC in the 2024 elections and start fixing the country.
