ActionSA welcomes the passing of the adjustment budget in the City of Tshwane and congratulates Executive Mayor Dr. Nasiphi Moya and the multi-party coalition partners for their outstanding work since taking office in October 2024.
Tshwane has set a strong precedent in its turnaround efforts, with residents witnessing enhanced by-law enforcement, equitable service delivery, economic revitalisation, and, importantly, financial discipline which is key to restoring the City’s financial stability. ActionSA is pleased that, through the efforts of the new administration, today’s passing of the adjustment budget demonstrates continued commitment to revitalising South Africa’s Capital City.
Considering the devastating financial state in which the former DA administration, led by Cilliers Brink and Jacqui Uys, left the City—with over R5 billion in unauthorised, fruitless and wasteful expenditure incurred in the 2023/24 financial year—ActionSA believes that the budget passed today is a welcome step towards reversing the reckless financial mismanagement that has defined the City under successive failed DA administrations.
Since assuming the mayoral chain, Dr Moya and her team have shown a commendable commitment to financial stability, resulting in a remarkable increase of R777.5 million in total revenue, an improved liquidity outlook from 0.57 in October 2024 to 0.81 in January 2025, and cash reserves of R365 million. These are just a few of the impressive outcomes of the new multi-party administration’s tireless efforts to restore the financial viability of the City of Tshwane.
ActionSA looks forward to the continued remarkable turnaround progress being achieved in the City of Tshwane under the leadership of the multi-party coalition, consisting of the ANC, EFF, ActionSA, ACDP, AIC, DOP, PA, PAC, ATM, and GOOD.
