ActionSA welcomes the decision by the City of Tshwane multi-party coalition to nominate ActionSA’s own Kholofelo Morodi to become Speaker of the City’s Council.
Morodi’s election today would replace the disgraced Dr Murunwa Makwarela who resigned as a councillor last week after it emerged that he lied about his rehabilitation certificate.
ActionSA thanks our coalition partners for placing trust in us by nominating one of our own for the position.
As the Chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC), Morodi has an impressive track record of championing corruption-busting investigations to stop the plunder of ratepayer rands This includes addressing the city’s adverse Auditor-General’s (A-G) findings.
Morodi has also served in various leadership positions, being the Deputy SRC President of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) where she also served on the university’s council.
Furthermore, Morodi – who holds a Bachelor of Technology in Marketing from TUT – served as an advisor to former City of Tshwane Mayor Dr Gwen Ramokgopa.
ActionSA looks forward to Morodi’s election bringing much-needed stability to the Capital’s legislature. At a time of instability in the City of Tshwane, we are confident that Morodi is more than qualified to provide the leadership needed to put Council back on track and ensure service delivery to the residents of Tshwane is at the centre of Council business.
