ActionSA Deploys Councillors to Assist Families of Boksburg Gas Explosion & Extends Heartfelt Condolences to Victims

ActionSA has deployed our City of Ekurhuleni Councillors to assist families affected by a gas explosion in the Angelo informal settlement in Boksburg and extends our heartfelt condolences to the victims of this tragic incident.

Roughly six months after a similar gas explosion at a railway bridge in Boksburg, ActionSA is heartbroken that 16 people have died from this horrific incident and will attempt to help the community in any way during this difficult time.

We have already written to the City of Ekurhuleni Health and Social Development MMC to request that a mobile clinic be deployed to the community of Angelo and that anyone living in the vicinity be temporarily relocated to ensure their safety.

While reports suggest that the chemicals were stolen from a local business that produces fertilizer, ActionSA believes a formal investigation should take place to ensure that the facts of the tragedy are established and to avoid similar incidents from taking place in the future.

It is concerning that gas-related explosions have now taken place in the Boksburg area, killing a number of people, in a six-month period and therefore ask that the incident is given the attention it deserves.

ActionSA will continue to assist the community of Angelo, health services and law enforcement in any way possible to ensure that the affected families are urgently assisted and that similar incidents do not take place in the future.
