ActionSA Excited to Welcome Thoko Mashiane to its Ranks

As part of the party’s developmental efforts is attracting and a deep reservoir of talent to take ActionSA to new heights following the 2021 Local Government Elections (LGE).

ActionSA intends to contest every province in South Africa and that requires that our provinces be led by people with experience and those that share our values. Mpumalanga is no exception.

In the run-up to this announcement we, as the national leadership, traversed the province with our structures and it is evident that democracy is yet to reach the far recesses of this province and Thoko is committed to addressing this deficit.

To that end, I am happy to announce that the Chairperson of Mpumalanga is, Thoko Mashiane.

Thoko attended the University of Durban Westville where her studies were focused on local government and public finance.

Throughout her career Thoko has served as:

  • First Deputy Chairperson of SALGA;
  • Vice Chairperson of Mpumalanga Housing Board;
  • Chairperson for the Mpumalanga Township Board;
  • ANC NEC PEC Member;
  • ANC PWC Member;
  • Chairperson of Mpumalanga ANCWL;
  • Mpumalanga Representative for ANCWL and NEC.

Who better to begin the work of unseating the ANC in this province than a former member of the ANC who has herself been the victim of malicious smear campaigns when she acted against corruption?

This announcement is one that engenders pride for ActionSA. It represents the ongoing effort of building a deeper leadership team and diversifying ActionSA’s brand.

The significance of this moment lies in its intent to build leadership in the 9 provinces of our country that can activate our structures ahead of the all-important 2024 national and provincial election.

After meeting our structures and stakeholders in Mpumalanga yesterday, it is clear that our teams are ready to go and are very pleased to work under Thoko’s leadership.
