ActionSA Rand West expresses deep concern over the neglect of the NAGI WA INAGANELA General Dealer Waste Management Project, led by Mr. Monageng Nobela, in the Rand West Municipality.
Despite tireless efforts since 15 June 2022, the project lacks essential resources, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools. The MMC for Environmental Affairs had previously met with project leaders, promising support. However, the municipality has failed to deliver:
ActionSA’s key concerns are as follows:
1. Resource shortage: Insufficient PPE and tools which hinder effectiveness; 2. Municipal neglect: Broken promises and lack of engagement; 3. Unpaid compensation: Volunteers, 85% of whom are individuals with disabilities, await payment; and 4. Disregard for vulnerable groups: Neglect disproportionately affects individuals with disabilities.
ActionSA’s call to action to the Rand West Municipality is to: 1. Provide necessary resources and the tools of trade which include the appropriate PPE; 2. Fulfil promises for commensurate compensation; and 3. Engage meaningfully with project leaders.
Immediate attention is required to address these concerns and support this valuable community initiative.
