This significant milestone marks a moment of pride for our nation as we celebrate the dedication, resilience and hard work displayed by the learners.

We are particularly delighted to acknowledge the commendable performance of Gauteng Province, showcasing a commitment to excellence in education. With a pass rate of 88.4% in the 2024 NSC examinations, Gauteng has demonstrated a continuous upward trend in educational outcomes. Special recognition goes to KwaZulu-Natal, which achieved the highest number of Bachelor passes, closely followed by Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.

Moreover, Johannesburg West District stands out as a beacon of success with an exceptional pass rate of 97%. The tireless efforts of District Directors, educators, parents and learners in Johannesburg West have exemplified dedication to ensuring quality education and fostering academic excellence.

ActionSA Gauteng commends all role players in the province for their unwavering commitment to improving education outcomes. The collaborative efforts of the Department of Basic Education, Provincial Education Department, district teams and schools have been instrumental in achieving these remarkable results.

While celebrating these achievements, it is vital to address the challenges that persist in the education sector. ActionSA Gauteng recognises the urgent need to focus on strengthening foundational learning, supporting teacher development in the Foundation Phase, and improving post provisioning to ensure universal access to quality education.

As we move forward, ActionSA Gauteng remains dedicated to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to address these challenges and build a schooling system that empowers every learner to reach their full potential. We are committed to advocating for policies and initiatives that prioritise educational excellence and equitable opportunities for all learners in Gauteng and beyond.
