ActionSA Gauteng Youth Forum calls for an Immediate Investigation into alleged Mismanagement of Millions at the NYDA

ActionSA Gauteng Youth Forum is deeply concerned by allegations of the mismanagement of millions of rand at the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), which have reportedly resulted in incomplete artisan training programmes and broken promises to young South Africans.

It has emerged that many young participants successfully completed only the theoretical component of their artisan training but were never provided with the practical workplace experience required to quality for their trade tests.

As a result, these young people have been left with incomplete qualifications that cannot be fully accredited or used to secure meaningful employment opportunities.

At a time when South Africa is grappling with an alarming youth unemployment crisis and a critical shortage of skilled artisans, it is unacceptable that public funds intended to empower young people may have been squandered through poor governance, mismanagement, or corruption.

Every rand allocated to youth development must translate into real opportunities not shattered aspirations.

ActionSA Gauteng Youth Forum therefore calls for an urgent, independent, and transparent investigation into these allegations.

Those found responsible must be held fully accountable, appropriate steps must be taken to recover any misappropriated funds, and all affected beneficiaries must be afforded the opportunity to complete their training and obtain the qualifications they were promised.

Young people in South Africa deserve institutions that are transparent, accountable, and committed to fulfilling their mandate.

ActionSA Gauteng Youth Forum will continue to advocate for ethical governance, accountability, and policies that create sustainable employment opportunities while restoring the dignity and future prospects of South Africa’s youth.
