ActionSA Joburg Caucus demands answers from MMC for Economic Development pertaining to fraud allegations against the newly appointed Acting CEO of Joburg Market

As a party rooted in the rule of law, we have committed to the more than 6 million residents of Johannesburg that whenever crime raises its ugly head, we will be the first political party to address it.

The recent revelation that places the Acting CEO of Joburg Market at the centre of fraud allegations is something that must be closely examined and questioned.

Joburg Market is one of the critical city entities; in August, it achieved an impressive turnover of R1.024 billion, and such an entity cannot be left in the hands of questionable individuals.

We have discovered that the Joburg Market Acting CEO, Sello Makhubele, has a court case pending in Rustenburg, North West; furthermore, he has been accused of four counts of fraud.

ActionSA has written to the MMC for Economic Development, Cllr Nomoya Mnisi, demanding a comprehensive report from the MMC for Economic Development, Cllr Nomoya Mnisi, about Mr Makhubele’s employment records and the vetting processes that were conducted when he was appointed.

ActionSA is adamant in upholding the rule of law and ensuring that various entities are led by ethical leaders.

ActionSA will not stand aside and watch as the City rules are flaunted to accommodate individuals with fraud allegations.
