ActionSA Joburg Caucus Welcomes Referral of MMC Mnisi to Ethics Committee
Cllr Nobuhle Mthembu
ActionSA Johannesburg Caucus Leader
ActionSA Joburg Caucus applauds the move by the Office of the Speaker of Council to refer MMC for Economic Development, MMC Nomoya Mnisi, to the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.
This follows the corruption charges that were laid against her at the Hillbrow SAPS by ActionSA on 1 August 2023.
MMC Mnisi Nomoyani is accused of allegedly ordering the former Joburg Property Company (JPC) acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Sipho Mzobe, to make a payment of R867 482 00, to the ANC Youth League, however, Mr Mzobe refused to settle the said invoice.
This is victory for the rule of law; we regard this as a positive step in the right direction. We hope that this is not done as a box-ticking exercise.
ActionSA Joburg Caucus will closely monitor the developments of this critical process.
ActionSA calls on other structures who have come out in public and announced that they will be investigating this matter to furnish the public with their findings.
MMC for Finance, Dada Morero, declared, on national television, that he will be investigating this matter, two months later; there is no update from his end. We, hope this will not be the case with the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.
ActionSA Joburg Caucus is vindicated, however, “Justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done”.
