ActionSA Joburg Caucus Welcomes the Warrant of Arrest Against City Manager, Floyd Brink
Cllr Lukhanyo Gantsho
ActionSA CoJ Councillor, Finance Committee Whip
ActionSA Joburg has cautioned the City of Johannesburg on many occasions to address the dysfunctional billing system. Johannesburg residents are facing the brunt of the City’s incompetence under the ANC/EFF Coalition of Doom.
The warrant of arrest against Floyd Brink didn’t come as a surprise; in fact, it was long overdue. Had the City heeded our call to revamp Metro Centre, this warrant of arrest was going to be effectedin his workplace as opposed to his residential address.
We further note the court order made against the already financially struggling City over a matter that should not have been allowed to make it to the court of law in the first place. We would venture to say it should be paid by the City Manager in his personal capacity.
As ActionSA, we will be looking into this mysterious billing war room and conducting an oversight to see what exactly is going on in the war room should the City Manager fail to implement resolutions.
ActionSA Joburg Caucus has long called for accurate, real-time billing to be one of the most prioritised services the City provides.
The City has long relied on drawn-out estimates that can be wildly inaccurate and inflated. This punishes paying customers and breaks down the trust relationship between the service provider and the residents.
A smart city in the largest metropolitan area should be able to do better than estimates. We call for accurate, real-time billing for the residents and for the same energy to be put into recouping rates from all regions of the City.
Weconvey our gratitude to ActionSA Senator Gillian Benson, who has put up a fierce fight against the uncaring City under the ANC/EFF Coalition of Doom.
As ActionSA, we will continue to call for ethical and professional leadership within the City who will be sensitive to the needs of its residents and ensure they are all treated fairly and equally.
