ActionSA President delivers a profound address at the 2025 Mid-Term Review of the National House of Traditional & Khoisan Leaders Imbizo

In his address, Mr Mashaba emphasized the party’s commitment to working closely with traditional leadership as partners in building a prosperous and inclusive South Africa.

He also highlighted the vital role of traditional leaders as guardians of culture, custodians of the land, and key agents of social cohesion in rural and traditional communities. He called for greater integration and collaboration between traditional governance systems and democratically elected local governments to improve service delivery, local development, and land use planning.

Addressing socioeconomic challenges, Mashaba underscored the need to unlock rural potential through strategic economic activities such as agriculture, agro-processing, and tourism, as well as repurposing abandoned factories and fallow farms to create jobs and revive local economies.

He pledged ActionSA’s commitment to working with traditional leaders, government, and the private sector to develop inclusive economic plans that can lift communities out of poverty. Furthermore, Mashaba stressed the importance of supporting traditional leadership through clear, enabling legislation and constructive legislative collaboration. He also acknowledged the complexities of immigration within Africa, emphasizing the need for balanced policies that protect traditional communities while respecting human rights.

Mashaba also raised concerns about the impact of illegal immigrants in rural areas and appealed to leaders to protect small businesses exclusively for South Africans, urging engagement with all spheres of government to enforce and, if necessary, strengthen relevant laws.

Critically, Mashaba addressed the threat of international drug syndicates in South Africa, urging traditional leaders to take a stand against the destruction caused in their communities.

He concluded by reaffirming ActionSA’s dedication to working closely with traditional leaders and the business community to promote rural development through public-private partnerships, investment incentives, and entrepreneurship programs. He believes that all the above can be achieved while preserving cultural heritage, enhancing governance, and advancing socioeconomic transformation in partnership with traditional leadership for the benefit of all South Africans.
