Today, ActionSA donated food parcels to the uMfolozi TVET College, Esikhawini Campus, following the EFF Student Command led SRC requested our assistance in this regard, after their cries to the leader of the EFF fell on deaf ears.
In light of the dire circumstances faced by students due to the failure of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to release funds, we acted promptly to address the urgent need for assistance.
It is with disappointment that we address the recent accusations made by the EFF regarding our initiative to provide assistance to students at Esikhawini Campus. Despite our sincere efforts to address the pressing needs of students facing food insecurity, the EFF has chosen to politicise our actions and label them as a mere publicity stunt for the upcoming national and provincial elections.
It is important to understand that our intervention was driven solely by our commitment to support those in need, and not by any political motives, as insinuated by the EFF.
We categorically reject any attempts to drag us into cheap political games.
We wish to remind the EFF that we have on multiple occasions brought assistance to those in need.
Case in point:
– ActionSA spearheaded the fight against the KZN Department of Education for their failure to address the National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP) which saw over 2 million learners in our province going without meals at schools, for months on end. Not only this, but we could not sit idly by and allow this issue to unfold, therefore, we donated food parcels, gas and other essentials to various schools across the province.
– We donated food, a gas and other essentials to Dumakude High School in uMzimkhulu, after the school was excluded from the NSNP by the Department of Education.
– We donated food to students at eThekwini TVET College, Centec Campus after they too faced issues with NSFAS’ failing to clear funds into students’ accounts
Basically, this is not our first time at the rodeo.
Our mission is clear: we will continue to provide essential services and extend a helping hand to individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their political affiliations. We believe in unity and solidarity in times of crisis, and we remain steadfast in our dedication to serving our communities.
Let us be clear: ActionSA does not engage in cheap politics, nor do we view providing essential assistance to those in need as a publicity stunt. Our commitment to serving communities goes beyond political affiliations, and we refuse to be dragged into the mud by baseless accusations.
At a time when students are struggling due to the failure of NSFAS to release funds, it is important that we set aside political differences and work together to address the urgent needs of our youth.
We urge the EFF to refrain from politicising humanitarian efforts and to join us in supporting those who need it most.
ActionSA remains resolute in our mission to provide genuine assistance to people from all walks of life, and we will not waiver in the face of unwarranted attacks. Our focus will always be on serving the best interests of the communities we aim to support.
ActionSA Remains Committed to Providing Assistance to all Despite Baseless Accusations
