ActionSA Reports Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality to SAHRC for Failing to Provide Clean Water to Communities

ActionSA has lodged a complaints against Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) for their failure to provide water to the community of Diepdale and Mooiplaas respectively.

Appreciating that this has been a persistent issue for almost five years, not providing adequate and portable water to the communities is in serious breach of the residents’ rights.

National and Provincial Government have often proven unable to intervene effectively.

The impact on communities’ rights, livelihoods and dignity is particularly aggravated in impoverished communities and vulnerable households in the affected areas.

ActionSA hopes that the SAHRC will speedily investigate our concerns in this regard to ensure that the community of Diepdale and Mooiplaas in Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality gets the justice they deserve after repeatedly being let down.
