ActionSA Responds to Motion of No Confidence Threatening Service Delivery

ActionSA is deeply concerned about the recent submission by the ANC to table a motion of no confidence on the Tshwane Executive Mayor, which poses a significant threat to the stability of the coalition government.

We view this move by the ANC as an opportunistic ploy to disrupt the progress that has been made by the coalition government in delivering much-needed services to the residents of Tshwane.

ActionSA joined the coalition with a clear mission to bring about positive change and address the needs of the community.

Since the inception of the coalition government, significant strides have been made in improving the city of Tshwane. For the first time since the start of the term of office, the city of Tshwane is stable and effecting institutional change that is now starting to root out corruption and institutionalise the procurement that was captured. The improvements in the audit outcomes were not in isolation from the efforts of the Coalition.

The hard work of our ActionSA MPAC chairperson has successfully decreased irregular expenditure by over R10 billion, showcasing our commitment to financial accountability and earning recognition from SALGA and the AG.

Under the guidance of the ActionSA Deputy Executive Mayor, the residents of Hammanskraal will finally have access to clean water after 20 years of neglect, with 5 officials now on suspension for their roles in violating human rights.

Significant improvements in capital project management have resulted in a 92% expenditure rate and the termination of over 20 projects due to underperforming contractors.

Basic services are being systematically rolled out in all regions, with the Deputy Executive Mayor ensuring monthly plans are developed and executed efficiently.

ActionSA’s efforts have led to the insourcing of cleaners and security guards in the City, ensuring fair wages and working conditions, with plans to implement insourcing for cleaning services in the current financial year.

ActionSA is committed to continuing to deliver on the promises made to the residents of Tshwane and will not be deterred by political gamesmanship from the ANC. The party calls on all coalition partners to remain united and focused on their mission of serving the people of Tshwane.
