ActionSA Reveals Tshwane Polling

ActionSA has concluded polling into the City of Tshwane which reveals that the municipality is wide open, perhaps more than any other municipality in South Africa.

The poll was conducted on the basis of random dialling to a sample weighted in terms of key demographic considerations. This produces a margin of error of 5% and a 90% confidence interval.

While in previous polling we have built up samples to over 400, ActionSA is having to respond to irresponsible polling publicised over the weekend with samples as low as 50 – 100 people.

The numbers emerging from the polling are:

The most notable outcomes of the poll are:

  • The elections in Tshwane are wide open with the range of support of the top 3 parties falling within the margin of error.
  • The DA’s recent statement about being willing to work with the ANC now means that voters need to demand clarity on this given its implications in Tshwane.
  • It is a clear demonstration that ActionSA is not the small party that the DA has invested a fortune in trying to convince voters that that is the case.
  • The collapse of the DA and ANC from 2016 levels has been catastrophic as voters respond to the instability and lack of leadership over the last 5 years.
  • Undecided voters remain high, over a quarter of respondents, which is unprecedented for this late point in the campaign, demonstrating how campaigns remain effective to the final moment.
  • Voter turnout is going to be key in our country’s capital.

ActionSA is pleased by these numbers but, above all else, we are animated by the need to ensure our campaign reaches the over 25% of voters who remain undecided at this late point in the campaign.

We will drive up the intensity of our campaign in the final days in such a manner that residents of Tshwane see ActionSA as the dominant party in all communities of the capital city.
