ActionSA is pleased to announce that after a 4-day Senate Strategic Planning Session, its portion of an exhaustive policy process has been concluded and is now ready for consideration at its inaugural policy conference. Over the last 8 months, ActionSA has canvassed ActionSA members and supporters, industry experts and professionals and ordinary South Africans about the solutions needed to address the greatest challenges facing them today.
This has culminated in a draft policy suite which offers practical solutions, grounded in the perspectives of South Africans who work in these industries and understand how they must be fixed. The draft policy proposals are currently being sent to delegates and will be ventilated in robust debate at our inaugural policy conference to be held from 12 to 14 September 2023.
The solutions adopted by the conference will set the stage for the creation of the party’s manifesto that will give millions of South Africans a real alternative to the existing political establishment and reinvigorate hope ahead of our first-ever bid in the national and provincial elections next year.
Our draft policy suite is grounded in The South African Dream – an alternative vision for the future that South Africa is capable of achieving without the ruling party. This is a dream for an inclusive and prosperous future for all South Africans, inspired by the seven values on which our party is founded following The People’s Dialogue.
ActionSA’s Draft Policy Proposals are being issued to delegates that will represent their branches and constituencies from the country. Amidst these draft proposals are the following policy developments of interest:
- The first real alternative policy suite to the BBBEE Act of 2003, featuring the unprecedented establishment of an Opportunity Fund that will unapologetically focus on the inclusive empowerment of all South Africans who were discriminated against under Apartheid.
- The re-establishment of the Scorpions and the initiation of a Parliamentary Standing Committee on Chapter 9 Institutions to insulate these vital institutions from becoming protectors of the Executive.
- ActionSA’s Senate resolved that the party will not support the reintroduction of the death penalty, but rather focus on accountability measures that ensure that life in prison means life in prison and not the 25 years it currently is.
These are just some of the draft proposals to be considered by hundreds of delegates at the policy conference next month.
Delegates from across the country will be seized with the draft policy proposals and there will be a series of engagements over the next two weeks leading to the inaugural policy conference, arising from which will be the foundation of ActionSA’s election offer in 2024.
Members of the media are invited to a press conference scheduled for Thursday, 07 September 2023, where we will engage them on the road that has led us to this milestone and the road to the policy conference on 12 to 14 September 2023.
Yesterday, ActionSA marked 3 years of proud service to the South African people and doubles down on our commitment to be the political alternative that so many South Africans are desperately looking for. We commit ourselves to reaching more towns and villages and presenting our unique offer to more South Africans on new street corners across our country.
The conclusion of our national policy suite is another major milestone in the rapid growth and development of ActionSA.
