ActionSA sends our deepest condolences to the families of the 15 deceased who died following the horrific head -on collision between a bus and a truck on the M17 on Hornsnek Road in Pretoria early this morning.
Furthermore, we also keep the families of the 37 injured currently in hospital in our prayers hopeful that they will make full recoveries.
It is worth noting that the Department of Roads and Transport in our country really has to do a better job in improving the state of our road infrastructure, not to mention ensuring the there is good visibility for driving at night or early hours of the morning when it is still dark.
Even more worrying is the fact that even as we deal with issues of infrastructure, the erosion of the rule of law has permeated deep into our society. Many people choose not to obey the rules of the road notwithstanding the possibility of fatally wounding other motorists and passengers alike.
ActionSA calls upon accounting authorities to diligently undergo the investigation into the causes of the accident so that the families of the deceased may find closure and that the outcomes may be captured for remedy to help prevent future fatalities on our roads.
