ActionSA Stands By Xolani Khumalo As He Faces Persecution On Baseless Charges

Today, I attended the court appearance of ActionSA Ekurhuleni Mayoral Candidate, Xolani Khumalo, at Palm Ridge Magistrate Court. He faces a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm linked to a 2025 televised drug raid. The case has been postponed to 14 May 2026 because the prosecutor reported being sick.

ActionSA’s position is unequivocal. We will support Khumalo’s patriotism and zero tolerance approach to end lawlessness that undermines the livelihoods of citizens. It is astounding that a farce charge is given legitimacy by our own criminal justice system, especially as the youth struggle against drug syndicates that have proliferated our communities. This is nothing more than an attempt by drug syndicates to silence and intimidate Khumalo.

Ongoing testimonies emerging from the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry demonstrate how criminals have embedded themselves in society, with the help of law enforcement. Our government has failed to realise dignity for all. Instead, South Africans are left to fend for themselves against organised and well-resourced syndicates.

ActionSA applauds Khumalo for his patriotism and courage to wage war against criminals. We will continue to follow the developments of this case, in order to expose the failures of this government to realise a democratic and just South Africa for all.
