ActionSA stands ready to collaborate with efforts to unseat the ANC and form a robust coalition government to get services back on track for the people of eThekwini.
The ANC continues to run the eThekwini Metro into the ground despite the residents showing no confidence in their abilities during the 2021 LGEs where the ANC lost 11% of the vote. Currently, the ANC has 42% of the seats in Council and opposition parties should be in charge.
The eThekwini Metro has fallen victim to years of mismanagement and urban decay at the hands of an ANC government. The Metro was further battered by July Unrests and most recently the floods that claimed many lives and livelihoods.
This Metro cannot afford to be the victim of ANC factional battles in the run-up to its elective conference in December. The people of eThekwini need a government focused on reconstructing its infrastructure and its future.
ActionSA is, therefore, prepared to give effect to its commitment to unseating the ANC. Such commitment was demonstrated just yesterday with the submission of a motion of no confidence in the KwaDukuza Municipality where it was deliberately and violently thwarted by the ANC.
We encourage all opposition parties, including the DA, to come to the table to rescue this crucial metro from the clutches of a gutless ANC.
