ActionSA Tshwane Caucus Concludes a Successful Strategic Session

This past weekend, ActionSA Tshwane Caucus recently concluded a two-day strategic breakaway session.

Part of what we wanted to achieve was to reflect on the past 6 months as part of a Multiparty Coalition Government in Tshwane and to plan ahead, building up to the 2024 National and Provincial Elections and beyond.

We noted as a Caucus that we inherited a broken city.

  1. The city is technically bankrupt
  2. The staff composition is highly bloated
  3. Collection was at its lowest
  4. Delivery of basic services at its worst especially in townships
  5. Billing in a mess
  6. Coming out of the most unstable political term in the host of our city

The following emerged as our position.

That ActionSA in Tshwane is fully committed to address the legacy issues in the City of Tshwane that have crippled the City for far too long.

To this effect we are committed to making the Multiparty Coalition work and to advance the service delivery priorities that are embraced by all coalition partners as part of our Joint Coalition Manifesto.

Only by placing South Africans first can we build a prosperous Nation.

As ActionSA we reaffirm our commitment to the non-negotiable priorities in line with our Party’s manifesto, which among others are to:

  • Resolve the Hammanskraal water crisis,
  • Escalate the provision of sustainable housing,
  • Restore the Rule of Law
  • Work fervently to eliminate corruption and maladministration in the city,
  • Professionalise the public service, and unwaveringly Insource vulnerable workers.
  • Reclaim hijacked buildings and
  • Deal with the issue of illegal immigration.

For some time, active citizenship has been discouraged, and our communities have been left uninformed and less engaged with the City.

This must stop.

ActionSA invites all residents of our Tshwane to engage the City through available channels and structures.

Our councillors are on the ground throughout all 7 regions of the City to assist in ensuring that the City listens to their concerns and that their resolutions are fast tracked, and that relevant information is shared.
