ActionSA Tshwane Caucus Welcomes Review of MOUs by Executive Mayor
Cllr Tshepiso Modiba
ActionSA Tshwane Caucus Spokesperson
ActionSA Tshwane Caucus commends the decision taken by the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Dr Nasiphi Moya, to initiate a review of the Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), including the controversial agreement with AfriForum.
Importantly, this move reflects our commitment to ensuring that all residents of Tshwane receive equitable and fair treatment, especially in regard to service delivery
The MOU with AfriForum has long been in topic of concern for our communities, given the perception that it caters predominantly to affluent areas such as Pretoria East. This disparity in resource allocation is contrary to the principle of equitable service delivery. While we appreciate that MOUs are voluntary, they must still align to the principles of government which includes serving all citizens in a fair manner.
We believe that any agreement reached by the city should reflect the diverse needs of all Tshwane residents. Our focus must be on sustainable development, inclusivity and a commitment to uplifting those who have been historically neglected. The review of MOUs is a crucial step in redressing these imbalances and moving towards a more inclusive governance model.
ActionSA remains steadfast in its dedication to ensuring that the voices of all residents are heard and prioritised as it is our collective responsibility to create a Tshwane that is equitable, just and prosperous for everyone.
We look forward to continuing to work with the Mayor and the City Council to implement policies that serve the interest of all residents, ensuring that no one is left behind.
