ActionSA Vows to Insource Workers in the Limpopo Province

In lieu of President Herman Mashaba’s three-day campaign trail in the Limpopo Province, I along with Limpopo Provincial Chairperson, Victor Mothemela and Regional Chairperson, Dr Ndina Singo today have reiterated ActionSA’s commitment to insource Security Personnel, Cleaners, Home-Based and various workers contracted by the Municipality.

The historic gathering at the Vuledzani Bulala Sports Centre in Thohoyandou was characterised by hope and elation as hundreds of workers under the Limpopo Security Forum were reassured that they will be insourced within the first 100 days of office under an ActionSA government. It is only a matter of days before this materialises.

ActionSA has always maintained that the lack of political will from the incumbent government to insource workers deliberately seeks to empower labour brokers at the expense of thousands of hard-working men and women. If this government can afford to reward security and cleaning companies with tenders; what makes it difficult to pay it directly to the workers?

ActionSA will not stop fighting for the rights of workers, and we are going to do so until the government abolishes labour brokers in the Security and cleaning sector. The pain that has been inflicted by tenderpreneurs cannot be quantified and we are determined to end this injustice. When we get to government, we are going to ensure that Insourcing is implemented across all nine provinces.

Insourcing is not a foreign concept, it was implemented successfully in the city of Johannesburg under the leadership of our President Herman Mashaba as the Executive Mayor. During his tenure, 4,185 security guards and 1,879 cleaners were absorbed by the City through his insourcing to be an integral part of the government entity.

We know that those who have benefited from this exploitation arrangement do not support our call to insource the workers but our message is clear, “WE ARE GOING TO INSOURCE OUR WORKERS WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT”. We strongly believe that workers deserve the benefit that comes with insourcing such as medical aid, UIF and Provident fund.

As ActionSA we are committed to fix this injustice, but most importantly, we are ready to make enemies in our quest to restore the dignity of workers.
