ActionSA Welcomes Arrest of Suspect Linked to Tragic Killing of Gugulethu Community Crime Fighter, Lulama Dinginto
Michelle Wasserman
ActionSA Western Cape Provincial Chairperson
ActionSA welcomes the arrest of a suspect linked to the tragic killing of Lulama Dinginto, a zealous crime fighter, who was senselessly gunned down in her home.
We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Lulama’s family and stand in solidarity with anti-crime activists, civil society organizations, and the broader community in expressing our outrage and sadness at the devastating loss of a true champion and advocate for the safety and well-being of her community.
The brutal killing of Lulama underscores the escalating bloodshed across Cape Town, where warring gangs and ruthless criminals continue to inflict unspeakable horror upon the residents of Gugulethu and surrounding areas on the Cape Flats.
In the face of this escalating violence, unwilling to stand back and allow terror to reign unchecked, Lulama Dinginto, affectionately known as “Guffy,” bravely took on the fight by actively participating in the Gugulethu Community Policing Forum, ultimately going on to serve as the Deputy Chairperson.
During these sombre times, ActionSA pays tribute to the countless innocent Capetonians lost on the Cape Flats at the hands of bloodthirsty gangs, whose disregard for human life has torn apart so many families.
ActionSA will continue tracking the progress of the apprehended suspect’s prosecution and calls on the South African Police Service to exhaust every effort until they are confident that all those who may be responsible for this tragedy have been identified and apprehended.
