ActionSA welcomes the resignation of Free State’s Social Development MEC Matshediso Koloi, following our request that she steps aside until the conclusion of her case.
Her resignation demonstrates accountability; however, she must face criminal charges in a court of law together with the two implicated officials.
Koloi’s resignation follows her arrest along with two other accused in relation to an alleged misuse of R150 000.00, while she was the Executive Mayor of Moqhaka in 2017.
Her departure clears the way for the appointment of a new MEC for this department which desperately needs strong leadership to provide quality services to the people of the Free State.
