ActionSA Western Cape Helps Military Veterans to Claim Benefits

ActionSA in the Western Cape is helping the South African Coloured Corps Forum (the SACC Forum) to claim benefits for its members.

The SACC Forum is a national organisation which represents military veterans who have served as part of the South African Defence Force (SANDF), but who have been marginalised and denied benefits which they should have received as veterans under the Military Veterans Act 18 of 2011, including a pension and access to health care.

The SACC Forum, under the leadership of its Founder and Chairperson, Mr Jan Isaacs, took legal action against the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Thandi Modise, in 2022 to compel the Department to take the necessary steps to recognise the SACC Forum as a military veterans’ organisation.

ActionSA believes that it is unacceptable that military veterans, who have served our country and who qualify to receive benefits under the Military Veterans Act, have not received the benefits to which they are entitled.  ActionSA and the SACC Forum are especially concerned about the widows and dependents of military veterans who have to endure enormous hardship because they have been disregarded and overlooked.

ActionSA will continue to assist the SACC Forum in its fight to get the recognition to which it is entitled and ensure that its members get the benefits which they deserve.
