Today, ActionSA announced its Mayoral Campaign Governance Team for the City of Johannesburg, tasked with leading our #OperationFixJoburg across the City’s governance portfolios. These individuals come from diverse professional backgrounds and experiences, united by a shared conviction to rescue South Africa’s economic heartland from further collapse.
As Johannesburg descends deeper into crisis, these committed residents have stepped forward to join our mission to fix the city. They understand that restoring Johannesburg requires far more than slogans and empty promises. As concerned and patriotic citizens, they recognise that fixing the city demands decisive, ethical leadership capable of placing Johannesburg back on a growth trajectory.
What makes this moment particularly significant is that many of these individuals are not career politicians, but ordinary South Africans who are qualified professionals, have managed organisations, served in both government and the private sector, fought on behalf of their communities, advanced social justice, and delivered solutions to complex challenges.
Each member has been assigned a portfolio aligned to the City’s existing departments and is earmarked to serve as political head when ActionSA receives the mandate from residents on 4 November 2026.
The following individuals have been announced:
Tumi Sole, Candidate for MMC Development Planning: A legal professional with more than 15 years of experience across the mining, metals, and broadcasting sectors. He is the Founder and Chairman of the social movement #CountryDuty and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Cllr Marcel Coutriers, Candidate for MMC Public Safety: ActionSA’s Caucus Leader in the City of Johannesburg Council, bringing 22 years of experience in the South African Police Service, where he developed extensive expertise in public safety, discipline, and community engagement.
Cllr Mpumi Edward, Candidate for MMC Finance: An ActionSA PR Councillor in the City of Johannesburg Council and Chairperson of the Section 79 Finance Oversight Committee. She has more than 25 years of experience across banking, retail, education, and the South African Revenue Service. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from Regenesys Business School.
Dr Bongani Mabizela, Candidate for MMC Environment and Infrastructure Services: A civil engineer turned businessman with a PhD in Leadership and Management. He previously served as Group Head of Roads and Stormwater at the City of Tshwane Municipality and has more than 15 years of experience in local government.
Botsang Modimowame Moiloa, Candidate for MMC Economic Development: A political commentator, public servant, and career diplomat with training from distinguished institutions across Africa, Europe, South America, and Russia.
Cllr Sarah Wissler, Candidate for MMC Health and Social Development: A City of Johannesburg Councillor representing ActionSA in the Public Safety Committee. She has been an active community leader who has consistently taken the fight for residents directly into Council.
Tshepo Mashiane, Candidate for MMC Sports, Arts and Culture: He brings 25 years of experience in building strategic cooperative relationships with local and international stakeholders in the arts, culture, heritage, and creative sectors.
Cllr Lebo Mokoka, Candidate for MMC Transport: Serving as a dedicated public representative with experience in governance and community engagement, Cllr Mokoka has been keenly focused on improving mobility and transport systems for Johannesburg residents.
Nandi Ndaba, Candidate for MMC Group Corporate and Shared Services: An admitted legal professional holding an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand, as well as a degree in International Relations and Political Studies. She currently serves as Chief Legal Officer.
Zandile Dabula, Candidate for MMC Human Settlements: Founder and former member of Operation Dudula, a civic organisation that drew national attention to the crisis of illegal immigration in South Africa and the housing crisis in the City of Joburg.
This marks the first time in Johannesburg’s governance history that a mayoral candidate has openly introduced residents to the talented pool of professionals who will work alongside him in the fight to #OperationFixJoburg.
ActionSA believes that Johannesburg does not lack potential but that it lacks leadership. The city requires a professional public service led by competent and ethical leaders committed to turning Johannesburg around. For far too long, residents have paid the price for failed political leadership. Our #OperationFixJoburg is not merely an election campaign but a fight for the future of this city.
The Mayoral Campaign Governance Team sends a strong message that ActionSA is uncompromisingly focused on restoring dignity to all residents, regardless of their postal code. Residents can look forward to a credible government-in-waiting that will prioritise service delivery, reverse years of neglect, and put South African citizens first.
