Introducing Advocate Julie Anne Lopes-Seton

Advocate Seton is a brilliant legal practitioner hailing from the Western Cape, where she serves as our Garden Route Regional Secretary and has worked on strategic litigation in the Western Cape.

Advocate Seton holds a BIuris from the University of the Orange Free State and holds a LLB from the University of South Africa and a National Certificate in Municipal Financial Management from SPL Stellenbosch University.

With a distinguished legal career, notable highlights include serving as the Director of the University of the Orange Free State Legal Aid Clinic and later establishing and successfully running her own trial practice with extensive expertise in both civil and criminal litigation.

Advocate Seton, aside from her accomplished legal background, brings to the table a breadth of experience in local governance. She has served as the Speaker of the Knysna Council, where she has developed a well-versed understanding of municipal governance.

Advocate Seton’s background provides our team with critical insights into local governance, particularly how we are to address severe governance failures across municipalities in South Africa, like that of Knysna, which has all but collapsed.

ActionSA has recognises the crucial role that local governance plays in fixing South Africa, especially in rural communities. And with Advocate Seton on board our team, we believe her track record and expertise will be an invaluable contribution to our effort to ensure all spheres of government function effectively to deliver services to South Africans.
