City of Johannesburg EISD Chairperson Applauds the Establishment of Service Delivery Clusters

City of Johannesburg Chairperson of Environment and Infrastructure Services Department (EISD), Cllr Vhengani Munyayi applauds the establishment of Service Delivery Cluster.

This new approach taken by the City will go a long way in addressing service delivery backlog and taking the legislature to the communities.

It is well documented that service delivery issues cut across various Section79 Committees. However, owing to lack of proper co-ordination some of service delivery matters fell within the cracks.

To mitigate service delivery deficit, the office of Chair of Chairs demarcated Section79 committees into four clusters, Sustainable Services, Human and Social Development, Governance and Economic Growth Cluster. These clusters are comprised of not less than four departments whose responsibilities are intertwined.

The first oversight visit which was conducted at City Deep Greenfields pertaining reconnection of electricity by the Sustainable Service Cluster is an illustration of how service delivery backlog will be resolved efficiently going forward.

Departments will attend to service delivery issues as a team to ensure a swift response which will help improve turnaround times and avert blame shifting.

Residents of Johannesburg can now rest assured that their service delivery calls will be attended to with the urgency they deserve, thanks to this intervention.

ActionSA believes in a customer-centric government that delivers service with pride and this new approach falls squarely with what we advocate for as a party.
