We are calling on the Gauteng provincial government to dissolve the Emfuleni Local Municipality Council and have the municipality placed under administration after it repeatedly failed to deliver basic services, in line with Section 139(1)(c) of the South African Constitution.
Section 139(1)(c) of the Constitution stipulates that the provincial government may dissolve a municipal council and when the municipality is dissolved, within 90 days there ought to be new elections and a new Council must be appointed.
ActionSA believes that drastic action should be taken because the municipality and its council has continually failed.
