eMalahleni Mayor Booted Out, Call For Provincial Government to Place Municipality Under Administration
Thoko Mashiane
ActionSA Mpumalanga Provincial Chairperson
The Mayor of eMalahleni Municipality, Connie Nkalintshana, has been booted out by the ANC Nkangala Regional Committee.
Nkalitshana has been accused of displaying arrogance after undermining some of their outcries while addressing service delivery issues.
ActionSA reiterates its call that instead of appointing a new mayor, the Provincial Government must immediately place eMalahleni Municipality under administration.
We don’t believe that a new cadre deployee will run this municipality efficiently, as eMalahleni Local Municipality in Mpumalanga has revealed that it owes Eskom over R7.1 billion for unpaid electricity as just one example of its malfeasance.
The ANC has a reputation for protecting its cadres by deploying them to other government posts when they realise that they have messed up in their previous position.
ActionSA sympathizes with the disgruntled citizens who are fed up with poor governance and incompetence within the ranks of our government and the arrogant and out-of-touch officials.
ActionSA calls on the Mpumalanga ANC to reconsider their decision to appoint a new Mayor of eMalahleni and instead, put the people’s interest first before the party, by placing the municipality under administration.
