ActionSA Tshwane Caucus takes pride in the work achieved by Tshwane Deputy Mayor Dr. Nasiphi Moya during her first 100 days in office. Since her election early this year, Dr. Moya has put every effort into fulfilling the set objectives of the office of deputy mayor.
The end of the month of April marked the end of her first 100 days, a journey she has travelled excellently, as evidenced by her achievements in this period.
As MMC for Community and Social Development deployed in the Soshanguve and Mawiga areas, Cllr. Moya led a range of urban management service delivery programmes in Garankuwa, Winterveld, Mabopane, and Soshanguve.
These included ensuring regular grass cutting, lit streetlights, patching potholes, and maintaining community facilities.
In her capacity as MMC, Dr. Moya has ensured accessibility and the smooth running of all the community facilities under her stewardship. These include overseeing 58 libraries across the city, various sports facilities, and 10 early childhood development centres, many of which she has visited in her first 100 days.
In accordance with her delegated authority as Deputy Mayor, Cllr. Moya oversees the City’s 168 capital projects. ActionSA is pleased to see the progress the City has made on major projects like the Rooiwal infrastructure project in Hammanskraal.
For over a decade, the people of Hammanskraal have been without potable water and we note the City’s commitment to providing portable water to Hammanskraal residents by the end of November.
Following Dr. Moya’s oversight of the Caledonian and Refilwe stadiums, the Deputy Mayor has instituted an investigation into the two projects to uncover the cause behind the failure to complete these projects despite tenders having been awarded to contractors.
Furthermore, a public consultation was conducted to transition the Odi and HM Pitje Stadiums to long-term leases to ensure the restoration of these stadiums.
The caucus notes and welcomes the recruitment of over 4,000 Tshwane residents under the EPWP program. We are particularly pleased with the new lottery selection system. This is a much-needed improvement as it will eliminate the potential for manipulation and ensure that residents of Tshwane get fair access to these government opportunities.
We also welcome the City’s renewed efforts to support vulnerable members of our community through the distribution of food and blankets to homeless shelters and the indigent outreach programme, which saw 1122 households get assistance from the City. ActionSA stands fully behind the Deputy Mayor and the City’s efforts to achieve full recovery.
