The Ngaka Modiri Molema (NMM) Region is setting a powerful example in the province with its remarkable resurgence in branch revitalization and new member recruitment. Under the dynamic leadership of our regional secretary, Mrs. Martha Modisenyane, we are witnessing a grassroots movement fuelled by the spirit of the “Ikanye Wena Mindset Campaign.” This initiative has empowered our members to take charge of their political destiny, instead of waiting for directives from provincial or national levels to mobilise their local communities around ActionSA values and principles for change.
A New Era of Empowerment
Martha emphasizes that the momentum we are experiencing is a direct result of our members stepping up to the plate. “All our members are taking things into their own hands to do things for themselves,” she states. “It’s up to us to make things happen for our region.” Since the launch of the new membership system at the national level, our region has successfully re-launched six branches and is actively seeking to expand further.
Branch Launches and Membership Growth
The NMM Region has made significant strides in mobilization and membership recruitment since launching ground forces in August 2024.
“Despite facing challenges, such as limited financial resources, our determination has led to the establishment of sub-branches in wards that previously had none. This strategic approach allows us to better serve our largely rural and dispersed communities, ensuring local leaders can effectively engage with their constituents”, explains Martha
Key highlights of our accomplishments include:
– New Branches Launched: We have initiated branches in Wards 5, 15, 21, 24 (including Weltevrede, Luisdal, and Goedgevonden), 28, 32, and 35.
– Sub-Branches: Recognizing the logistical challenges of our vast region, sub-branches have been launched in various villages to facilitate local participation. This structure has proven effective for community engagement and leadership development.
– Upcoming Recruitment Launch Events: Our membership drive continues with scheduled recruitment activities in Masamane, Makgori, and Tshidilamolomo villages throughout November 2024.
Engaging the Community
Our strategy to launch sub-branches in each village is designed to yield positive results, allowing us to assess our strengths in each Voting District (VD). As we approach municipal elections, these branches will play a crucial role in electing Ward Councillor candidates from among their leaders.
The regional leadership structure is robust, with a dedicated Branch Executive Committee (BEC) overseeing our re-launching and revitalisation initiatives.

Looking Ahead
As we prepare for future branch launches and continue our recruitment drive, we are committed to overcoming the challenges posed by our rural landscape. With over 2,024 membership forms ready for capturing and more expected, the enthusiasm for ActionSA is palpable.
In the Ratlou Local Municipality, where challenges were significant during the last election, we are proud to have launched an additional branch, marking a new chapter in our growth as a party.
As Regional Chairperson Mr. Selima notes, “This achievement highlights the resurgence of ActionSA as a new force in the province.”
The Ikanye Wena Mindset is not just a campaign; it is a call to action for all members of the Ngaka Modiri Molema Region. Together, we are building a stronger, more engaged political landscape for our communities, and we invite all to join us in this exciting journey.
